PRESIDENT James Bible

  • Mr. Bible Graduated with honors from the Seattle University School of Law.  As a result of his hard work in school and the community, Mr. Bible was nominee for the Seattle University School of Law's Faculty Scholar Award.  Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Bible began working for the Defender's Association serving the legal needs of indigent populations.  Mr. Bible is currently in private practice and enjoys the opportunity to serve the community through the NAACP.

VICE PRESIDENT John Page

  • Mr. Page is fundamental to the success of the Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP.   In addition to his work with the NAACP,  Mr. Page is involved in work with the Village of Hope and the Peoples Institute NW.   His work on legislative and social issues that impact people of color and the poor is truly remarkable.

SECRETARY Betty Dovinh

  • Ms. Dovinh is a graduate of the University of Washington, with a degree specialized in Society, Ethics and Human Behavior and a minor in Human Rights.  She is dedicated to protecting the interests of under-served populations and has dedicated much of her time innovating positive social change.  Ms. Dovinh's organizational and interpersonal skills have greatly served to improve internal and community relations.

PRESIDENT EMERITUS Lacy Steele

  • Mr. Steele has the distinction of having been president of the Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP for nearly three decades.  In addition to his service as the President, Mr. Steele was also had the honor of serving as a National Board Member to the NAACP for several years.  Mr. Steele continues to work countless hours to make sure that your local branch of the NAACP is one of the best in the nation.

ASSISTANT TREASURER Judge Charles Johnson

  • Judge Johnson is a former president of the Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP and a former National Board Member.  Judge Johnson is also a strong member of the Loren Miller Bar Association.   Judge Johnson was the first and only African American presiding judge of the King County Superior Court.  Judge Johnson has been a fundamental part of the Seattle King County Branch for several decades.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (at-large) Judge Donald Haley

  • Judge Haley is a former president of the Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP and has been an important part of the Branch for several decades.  His service and guidance has been critical to the success of the Seattle King County Branch.  Judge Haley continues preside over cases on a pro tem basis and is an active member of the Loren Miller Bar Association.

 TREASURER Cynthia Hobbs

  • Mrs. Hobbs has worked countless hours for the Seattle King County NAACP for a number of decades.  She is our current treasurer and has played a key role in planning our annual planning meetings. 

ACT-SO Carolyn Riley Payne

  • During her twenty plus years of service with the NAACP,  Mrs. Riley Payne has occupied many positions with the NAACP.  Mrs. Riley Payne currently Serves as the ACTSO chair for our branch.  Through her hard work and dedication she has helped many children to realize their artistic and academic goals. 

LABOR AND INDUSTRIES Verlene Jones

  • Mrs. Jones is dedicated to protecting the civil rights interests of workers.   Mrs. Jones works countless hours investigating cases of employment and work place discrimination in addition to all of her other social justice activities.

EDUCATION Reverend Phyliss Beaumante

  • A former educator with a graduate degree in education, Reverend Beaumante works countless hours evaluating and investigating allegations of discrimination in education.  Her committee is one of the strongest that we have. In addition to her service with the Seattle King County Branch,  Reverend Beaumante is the current 1st Vice President of the Alaska Oregon Washington State NAACP Conference.

 PRISONS  Mary Flowers

  • Mary Flowers plays a key role in helping individuals that are currently incarcerated or who have recently been released from prison with many of the issues that lead to recidivism.  Mary consistently goes to the prisons to meet with the Black Prisoners Caucus.  Additionally, Mary works closely with the Youth Violence Prevention Network out of Freedom Church. 

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (at large)   Gerald Hankerson

  • Mr. Hankerson has played a critical role in improving our ability to serve diverse populations.   At this time,  Mr. Hankerson is focusing primarily upon youth empowerment issues.     

POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY KL Shannon

  • KL has been a social justice organizer for the better part of fifteen years.  In addition to her service with the NAACP, KL works as a community organizer for The Defender's Association.  Additionally,  KL has been at the forefront of many of the social justice movements in and around King County during the past fifteen years.  KL is a tireless worker who is fully dedicated to social justice.
